MEET THE DIRECTOR!

HELLO EMILY TANKERSLEY!

Emily is a graduate of Towson University, where she earned her BFA in Dance Performance. Following her undergraduate education, Emily earned her MA in Dance/Movement Therapy at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Now in her sixteenth year at Bryn Mawr, Emily teaches dance to students in grades 8-12 and directs the Upper School Dance Company. In addition to her work with the students at Bryn Mawr, Emily choreographs and performs with The Collective, a local modern dance company in residence at The Bryn Mawr School. She has worked with The Collective for 16 years and has performed at many local venues such as the Baltimore Museum of Art, The Gordon Center, Theatre Project, Johns Hopkins University, Goucher College, Towson University and Artscape.

MEET OUR DANCE FACULTY!

HELLO CAROLINE WAY!
Caroline Way began her dance training at age 3 at Encore Dance Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  At her home studio, she became well-versed in a plethora of dance styles including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip-hop, and Irish step.  She attended Hempfield High School where she was involved in their Dance Theatre program and was a principle dancer for 4 years.  She was also involved in the musical theater program.  Her passion for dance continued at Bucknell University where she was a member of the Bucknell Dance Company, as well as minored in Dance along with her Early Childhood Education major.  While at Bucknell, she coreographed for both the Dance Showcase and Bucknell Dance Company shows.  She also worked with such artists as Sascha Radetsky, Ballet X, and may more.  Caroline is currently a Second Grade teacher at Gilman School.

MEET OUR DANCE FACULTY!

Julianna Kronick

Julianna began her dance training at the Berkshire Dance Theatre in Adams, Massachusetts. While at her home studio, she studied with many talented teachers, took examinations for Cecchetti USA, and also instructed the younger students. After her high school graduation, she continued to pursue dance at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. During her time in college, she performed for the Fall and Spring Dance Concerts, choreographed for her independent project, traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland to study modern dance at Dance Base, and also interned at a small nonprofit modern dance company, The Collective. Julianna graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a minor in Business. After her graduation, she accepted an internship position as the Explore the Arts intern at The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. She has also worked as both a Recruitment Hiring Manager and Teaching Artist at Ballet Petite and Youth Performing Arts. She currently is working as an Arts Administrator and Ballet Instructor at both the Bryn Mawr School and Morton Street Dance Center.

Meet Our Dance Faculty!

MEET KARA GLINOWIECKI

Kara started dancing at a local recreation center at the age of five and instantly fell in love with dance. She continued to dance with the rec program for 15 years. She attended Mercy High School and danced on their dance team for four years. She was captain of the Mercy Dance Team during both her junior and senior years. Her love for dance inspired her to become a teacher at the rec center as well as to major in dance in college. Kara graduated from CCBC Essex with her AFA in dance. While there, she performed with CCBC's dance company and also choreographed several pieces for their shows. Kara also attended the Pulse Teachers's Conference in New York City in 2009 and 2011, where she learned many skills to use in class as well as had the opportunity to take a class from well known choreographers. Kara is currently the dance director with Dynasty Sports Academy and also teaches group fitness classes at a local gym.

  • Ballet Variation Camp - (Girls Entering Grades 4-6)

    Director: Julianna Kronick, Dance School teacher and Assistant, The Bryn Mawr SchoolCalling all ballet dancers! Join us for a week of ballet instruction, ballet history and terminology, and variation work. Students will explore movement and music in classical ballets such as“Giselle,” “Swan Lake,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Coppelia,” and “The Nutcracker.” Dancers will use arts and crafts to create props and costumes for a culminating performance for family and friends at the end of the week. We invite dancers with all levels of experience.
    SESSION OFFERED
    June 18 - June 22
    Time:  9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (lunch included)

    • Storybook Dance Camp S1 - (Girls Entering Grades PF-3)

      Do you enjoy both dancing and reading? Then this is the perfect camp for you! Students will be introduced to many dance techniques through literature and popular musical selections. Dancers will participate in ballet, jazz and creative movement classes, explore numerous novels, create story inspired crafts, and prepare special dances for family and friends. We invite dancers with all levels of experience to join us for a fun-filled week!
      SESSION 1
      June 25 - June 29
      Time:  9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (lunch included)
      Cost:  $325
